What does Krankenkasse mean?
The Krankenkasse is your statutory health insurance. It pays for doctors, hospitals and many medicines.

The Pflegekasse (long-term care insurance) is usually at the Krankenkasse too. It decides, for example, on the Pflegegrad (care level).
