What does Bedarfsgemeinschaft mean?
The Bedarfsgemeinschaft (benefit unit) is the people the Jobcenter assesses together, for example couples and their children.

It usually includes you, your partner and your children. This means children who live with you and cannot support themselves.
Other people in the home, for example flatmates, usually do not belong to it. They only share the home with you.
The income and assets of everyone in the benefit unit usually count together. Everyone has the same BG-Nummer.
