What does Grundsteuer mean?

Grundsteuer (property tax) is a tax on land and houses. The city or municipality collects it.

Owners get a notice for it from the city or municipality. It states the amount and the days it is due.

Landlords may pass the property tax on to tenants. It then appears in the Nebenkostenabrechnung (service charge statement).

What you can do

Pay the instalments on time and with the Kassenzeichen from the notice.
