What does Steuerbescheid mean?
A Steuerbescheid (tax assessment) tells you how much tax you must pay or will get back. It usually comes from the Finanzamt.

The Steuerbescheid often comes after your tax return. It can differ from your return. The reasons are usually in the Erläuterungen (explanations).
If you disagree, you can file an Einspruch. You have one month from the Bekanntgabe.
An Einspruch usually does not stop the payment. For that, you can apply for Aussetzung der Vollziehung (suspension of payment).
Some taxes are charged by the city or municipality, for example Grundsteuer (property tax) or Hundesteuer (dog tax). Then other rules often apply. Read the Rechtsbehelfsbelehrung at the end of the Bescheid.
