What does Kinderzuschlag mean?
Kinderzuschlag (child supplement) is money for families with a low income. It comes on top of Kindergeld.

You get it from the Familienkasse if your income is enough for you, but not quite enough for your children.
It is usually granted for six months. After that, you have to apply again.
People who get Kinderzuschlag can often also get help for education and participation, for example for school supplies.
