What does Bürgeramt mean?

The Bürgeramt (citizens' office) is your city's office for ID cards, passports and registering your address.

What you can do

Bring your passport or ID. To register, you also need a confirmation from your landlord.

  • Meldebescheinigung A Meldebescheinigung (proof of registration) shows the address where you are registered. You get it from the Bürgeramt.
  • Termin A Termin is a fixed day and time when you should come to an office, a court or a doctor.
