What does Sozialamt mean?
The Sozialamt (social welfare office) helps people who do not have enough money to live on. It is for those the Jobcenter does not cover.

It pays, for example, Sozialhilfe and Grundsicherung im Alter und bei Erwerbsminderung. That is for people who cannot work, or only a little.
The Sozialamt belongs to your city or district. It can also have another name, for example Amt für Soziales.
