What does Beratungshilfe mean?

Beratungshilfe (legal advice aid) means you get legal advice almost for free if you have little money.

You apply at the Amtsgericht (local court) where you live. Bring proof of your income and the letter it is about.

If you get it, you receive a Berechtigungsschein (voucher). With it, you go to a lawyer of your choice.

The lawyer may only charge a small fee for this.

Some federal states have public legal advice instead, for example Hamburg and Bremen.

Still watch your deadline. If necessary, file the Widerspruch, Einspruch or Klage yourself before the advice, as the Rechtsbehelfsbelehrung says.
