What does Kündigung mean?
With a Kündigung (notice), one side ends a contract, for example a rental contract, a work contract or a subscription.

A Kündigung usually has to be in writing. For a rental or work contract, an e-mail is not enough; the letter must be signed.
Notice periods apply. They are in the contract or in the law, and they differ from contract to contract.
If your landlord or employer gives you notice, get advice quickly. There is a short deadline to challenge a dismissal from work.
If your job is ending, register with the Agentur für Arbeit immediately.

Hiermit kündigen wir das Mietverhältnis fristgerecht zum 31.03.2027.
We hereby terminate the tenancy with due notice as of 31.03.2027.
